Calow Fryer in Chesterfield

"Came for the recently changed frying oil to beef dripping, omg such a rich taste . Had the mini fish n chips box meal cooked fresh and was certainly worth the wait, ate them in the car while the snow was falling just for fun. Need to try other items but if you have never had beef dripping chips or fish go try it so much better taste"

"Oh my good lord, what happens when you open a chip shop, and ACTUALLY listen to customer feedback to improve the quality of what you serve? I had previously reviewed this place five stars, and now i wish google had a higher rating option, i'd give this place ten trillion stars if i could I did not think it could get any better than the first time i had tried this place, remembering how beautifully flaky and fresh the cod was, accompanied by the crisp golden batter But they've recently (as per customer feedback) made the switch to beef dripping, in 2026 that is almost UNHEARD of, making this one of the only chippies in the local area to serve with beef dripping, and not only that, i ordered a portion of onion rings expecting them to be the usual frozen chip shop/takeaway shop rammel, only to be delivered actual HAND BATTERED onion rings, in the same beef dripping and golden batter as the rest of the menu, absolutely unreal There is nothing on this menu that hasn't been perfected, these people seriously know how to take feedback and it's evident that they're actively improving the quality of their food I ordered for extended delivery, so it arrived lukewarm, which of course is by no means the fault of the restaurant, but i'll gladly have to make the journey there one day to try it steaming hot straight from the fryer, i can't imagine how delicious that must be I envy the locals of calow! Thank you for taking time to read my ramble, i wouldn't normally write something like this, but i was absolutely STUNNED today, and i seriously, SERIOUSLY implore you to pop down and try it, if you're reading these reviews in the first place, it sounds like you're considering it!"

"Really love this chip shop in Calow. The food is of excellent quality and really tasty. The people behind the counter are courteous, friendly and very efficient and we think it is very good value for money. The shop is easily accessible, has parking on the road outside and even has an outside table to use (in the warmer months!)."

"Ordered snap, then realised it was only a few pence more for the box meal deal. Asked to upgrade, and they were more than happy to change order for us. Food all cooked fresh with good quality items. Can't fault them. Will use again and highly recommend."
